SUMMER CAMPING

Resting quietly on a hilltop, we are against a backdrop of timber and rock bluffs along the scenic Maquoketa River. We offer a host of activities to enjoy including hiking, real rock climbing, caving, climbing tower with zip line, bouldering and team building, as well as Frisbee Golf, swimming, geo-caching, archery, hayrides and much more!

Campers also have extended program opportunities through our camp partners like canoeing, tubing or kayaking the Maquoketa River through McDonough Canoe Outfitters. This seasonal river float adventure starts in nearby Monticello and ends just a hike down the hill from the camp at Pictured Rocks Park. Another opportunity we are blessed to have is year-round indoor swimming at the beautiful Camp Courageous pool complex. This includes use of two pools, a water rock-climbing wall, pool volleyball or basketball, numerous water toys and is indoor fun for all ages regardless of the weather outside.

For summer 2012 we will host small camp groups to ensure more individualized attention/bonding opportunities for kids with our Christ-centered staff. We hope to be blessed again with a Pastor as a spiritual director for each camp, as each brought their own unique style to worship, chapel time and the way kdis experience God at camp.

Make no mistake, whether summer camp or winter retreat one thing is certain - time spent at Pictured Rocks is not just another thing, but a significant spiritual growth opportunity!
