ABOUT PICTURED ROCKS CAMP
Resting quietly hilltop, we are against a backdrop of timber and rock bluffs along the scenic Maquoketa River. We offer a host of activities to enjoy that include
hiking, real rock climbing, caving, climbing tower w/zip line, bouldering and team building as well as Frisbee golf, geo-caching, archery and much more.
Campers/guests also have extended program opportunities through our camp partners like canoeing, tubing or kayaking the Maquoketa River through McDonough Canoe Outfitter. This seasonal river float adventure starts in nearby Monticello and ends just a hike down the hill from the camp at Pictured Rocks Park.
Another opportunity we are blessed to have is year-round, indoor swimming at the beautiful Camp Courageous pool complex. This includes use of two pools, a water rock-climbing wall, pool volleyball or basketball, numerous water toys and is indoor fun for all ages regardless of the weather outside.
Our facilities are available for retreats in all seasons of the year and have been used for family reunions, youth/confirmation retreats, men and women's groups, Sunday school/congregational retreats, scrapbook groups, pastoral respites and school/scouting groups. We also host day groups for meetings, trainings, winter sledding parties etc.
Make no mistake, whether summer camp or winter retreat, one thing is certain - time spent at Pictured Rocks is not just another thing, but a significant spiritual growth opportunity.
